Neil Bryant
I started at Toastmasters to help my professional speaking - I wanted to get more confident speaking in front of clients and colleagues, as well as better at my ability to influence an audience. It didn't take long for me to notice an immediate difference, i was learning techniques for public speaking every session, and soon became much more confident in my ability to take on these challenges. The focus on providing both positive and constructive feedback after every speech means there is always something you can keep improving on. Auckland Toastmasters in particular had a more professional feel, which helped me a lot as this was the main type of speaking i was involved in. For anyone who needs to convincingly speak to an audience and is looking to get better at it, this is a game changer.

In 12 months as a member of the Auckland Toastmasters Club, I shifted from being a person who avoided public speaking if at all possible, to achieving a level of confidence that armed me with the speaking capability I needed to fulfil a regular speaking obligation that followed my Toastmasters year. My public speaking transformed in three ways: My “Conscious Structure” improved (my term meaning the avoidance of garbled, subconscious delivery!), I learned to speak without notes and, I gained calm (versus trembling and misery) prior to my speaking obligations, which was joyous for me.
I have more work to do to improve my public speaking, which may give rise to my return to Auckland Toastmasters in the future but in the meantime, my year of learning with the club, not to mention the support, friendships, camaraderie and fun, has proven transformational when it comes my turn to address an audience.

Being a part of Auckland Toastmasters helped my professional development immensely. I first joined when I had just finished University and joined Ray White in 2013. I was looking for a way to work on my public speaking, as it was a big part of my new career and I found that Auckland Toastmasters was the only club that lived up to my high expectations. You are surrounded by some outstanding speakers at the top of the field and others who are also starting out on their journey. I can now confidently say I relish opportunities to speak in public and always seem to be well-received. I owe a lot of this to Auckland Toastmasters I highly recommend them to anyone wanting to further their speaking abilities.

As a non-native English speaker, I was initially anxious about speaking on stage. But at the Auckland Toastmaster Club, I received a warm welcome and found genuine support from the members. Their encouragement boosted my confidence significantly.
What sets the Auckland Toastmaster Club apart is their valuable feedback during meetings. Whether it was prepared speeches, impromptu talks, or evaluations, I always received helpful insights to enhance my delivery and stage presence. The club provided me with the tools to become a more confident speaker.
Although my time with the club was short due to relocation, its impact was profound. The knowledge gained and friendships formed continue to influence my speaking abilities positively. I highly recommend the Auckland Toastmaster Club to anyone looking to improve their public speaking skills. Its supportive atmosphere and invaluable guidance create an exceptional platform for personal and professional growth.
